Women in the workforce are making a huge impact. In honor of Women’s Month and International Women’s Day, we want to acknowledge all the achievements that women in the United States (and beyond) are making everyday.
Women are schooling the men…literally.
The U.S. Department of Education reports that women are attaining education at higher rates than men. Between 2012 and 2013 more women between the ages 25 to 34 held master’s, doctorate or professional degrees. Women earned 60% of all master’s degrees and 51% of all doctorates.
Women in power = positive profits
While few companies have a secret formula that leads straight to profit, it seems that organizations with more female leadership are financially outperforming their peers. A recent study conducted by DDI and the Conference Board found that companies who ranked as top financial performers had 6% more female leaders than those performing at the bottom. Talk about celebrating International Women’s Day!
Who runs the world? Maybe it should be girls.
In a survey of over 7,000 business leaders, The Harvard Business Review compared men and women on 16 different leader competency areas. Women ranked higher in 12, that’s 75%!
Women have been allowed to enter top corporate leadership positions at steady rates. In 2011, there were only 12 female CEO’s on the Fortune 500 list. Today, there are 23! The numbers of women in leadership still have plenty of room for improvement, only 9% of top management positions are held by women. Female leadership is growing and we couldn’t be more excited as more opportunities open up.
